American Express has opened a second airport lounge in Australia with the unveiling of their Melbourne lounge late last month.

Located in Terminal 2 at the Melbourne International Airport and totaling over 261 sqm with capacity for up to 65 guests, the new lounge is larger than its Sydney counterpart.

The Food

The weekly menu operates on a five-week rotation and was created in consultation with national chef, Kalesh Kamal (who has worked on cruise liners, fine-dining restaurants and luxury lodges in Australia and New Zealand).

Those with an early flight will love the warm and hearty breakfast options including bacon, baked beans, hash browns, sausages, pastries, a pancake machine and fresh barista-made coffee.

After something small? An assortment of snacks will be available all day including macarons, buffalo mozzarella sticks, a selection of yoghurts, fruits and juices.

Lunch is available all day with a buffet variety of salads, cold cuts, cheeses and more substantial offerings such as pasta, frittatas and chicken curries.

While those jetting off in the evening will love feasting on delicious dinner options including beef sliders on buttery brioche buns.

The Drinks

The bar is open all day and offers a selection of Australian reds, whites and sparkling wines. There’s also a hand-picked selection of beers and spirits, with soft drinks available on tap and in cans.

The Facilities

Business travellers will love the fact that the lounge offers high-speed Wi-Fi, computer and copy facilities for any last minute work before boarding your flight.

There are also solo suites where you can sit back with your laptop and work in privacy, with AC power and a small shelf for any refreshments you want to take with you.

To retain a sense of peace and tranquility, you won’t hear flight announcements over the speaker – so be sure to check the flight information screens conveniently located in the lounge for updates on your departure.

There’s also a selection of local and international magazines and newspapers.
